As a designer, I often encounter such a problem: a very good plan is not adopted by the other party, but the other party chooses a design that is not as good as my own, which causes great regret. The reason came from our powerpoint presentation. Doing a proposal presentation is like a salesman selling products to consumers or going to a new company for an interview. It is not a small knowledge, and it requires certain skills.

Let’s briefly share the experience gained and lost by our designers in the past few years when making proposal reports!

1. The Appearance Spirit Of The Reporting Personnel:

Needless to say, the problem of dress, when we report the plan, although we don’t wear formal clothes, we still dress neatly and try our best to leave a good impression on the other party. Mental outlook is the key, and those who dare not guarantee sufficient rest time, it is best not to report. Once, when participating in a project briefing meeting held by a government, a representative of Party A stayed up late the day before and worked overtime to catch up on the project. When it was his turn to go to the podium to do the reporting station, he yawned and couldn’t straighten up. He has no energy at all, and his voice is not loud when he speaks, just like a prisoner under trial. Just imagine, who dares to entrust him with engineering projects. But in fact, the set of plans he reported is similar to ours, and some aspects are more innovative than ours. Fortunately, he was asked to do the powerpoint presentation, otherwise, we would not have been the final winning project.

2. Select The Appropriate Reporter:

In most cases, let the plan designer do the plan report by himself, after all, he knows the plan best. After all, a designer is not a speaker, so it is not required to be impassioned and passionate in the introduction of the plan, as long as the idea of the plan can be clearly and accurately expressed. Stutters, has a low voice, has a strong local accent, or has stage fright, which will seriously affect the effect of the report. Therefore, we cannot demand that every excellent designer is an excellent speaker. But the selected person should practice on the powerpoint training before presentation. If the project designer has difficulties in expressing, then please find another person with strong expressive ability to do the work of reporting the project. When interactive questions are asked, the solution designer will answer them one by one.

3. Lower The Designer’s Posture:

To be honest, those who do architectural design have an artist’s arrogance, which may not be changed. But architectural design should be regarded as a commodity after all, not a work of art. We come up with a plan designed by ourselves to make the merchants accept it. Therefore, when we make powerpoint, especially when we report to Party A, we should put more emphasis on the commercial characteristics of the project rather than the artistry of its design. I have seen a colleague who was reporting the design of the project to Party A, he was eloquent about his own plan, talking about how magnificent, elegant and beautiful his plan was, and was intoxicated in his own “work of art”, without any concern for Party A at all. Fang put it in his eyes, and didn’t take Party A’s question seriously. As a result, one can imagine that no matter how artistic the design of the scheme is, its commercial value should be considered first, so that it is possible to put it into practice. Otherwise, no matter how elegant and spectacular the plan is, it is just a rendering, unless the architect wants to do the design for a lifetime.

4. Positioning Of Program Powerpoint Report:

If you want the other party to accept your plan, you must do what they like, satisfy the original intention and ideas of the other party, and consider from the other party’s position. However, if the designed plan does not meet or not fully meet the wishes of the other party, then when making a powerpoint presentation, add and emphasize things that can meet the wishes of the other party. For example, Party A (developer) needs a design plan that will have a market (high profitability) in the future. When we make a report, we can say that although the cost of our design plan is slightly higher in terms of landscape, it has improved The overall quality of the residential building enriches its cultural connotation and will attract a large number of high-end people to settle here. If it is to report the plan to the government department, we must emphasize that the amount of material used for our pipelines is large, but our design is in place in one step, which can avoid secondary development and waste of resources. There are too many main roads, which will expand the residential projects in the later stage and drive the development of the regional economy.

5. Do Not Fight Unprepared Battles:

Preparation is key. Prepare detailed explanations and materials for the design plan in advance. Sometimes (it can be said that usually), the architect designs an excellent plan, but he cannot summarize the advantages of the plan, and he may not even be able to find out the advantages of the plan. Where are those ingenuities. It is necessary to give full play to the advantages of the design team, and first let colleagues participate in the evaluation of the schemes. Find out the advantages and potential advantages of the plan, summarize them, and summarize them into complete written materials. If conditions permit, it is best to let someone with good writing skills polish them into the powerpoint design. Then do the program report work. Be ready to answer the questions the other person asks.

Once, we went to participate in a program bidding report. An architect introduced the plan in one go, as if he was giving a speech. He responded extremely quickly to the questions raised by the Planning Bureau. And the answer is well-founded, complete and clear. It is reasonable to win the bid in the end. I was very amazed at his quick thinking, but later, I overheard him and his colleagues say in the bathroom, “It’s true, you guessed their questions really well!” I was very touched at the time, In fact, this is the same as playing chess. A prophet can always take the lead and figure out the other person’s mind clearly, only then can he win the opponent. Therefore, before making a powerpoint presentation, we should carefully study our own plan design before reporting, summarize the pros and cons of the plan, think about what questions Party A (or the planning committee) will ask about the plan I designed, and answer them well Question preparation.

6. Boldly Express:

Some designers, it can be said that quite a few designers, still hold such a point of view: they think that promoting their design achievements is bragging and showing off. Therefore, they are unwilling or unwilling to express their thoughts actively, and always hope that developers will find themselves. But now is an era of information explosion, the more you can attract the attention of others, the more valuable and famous you are. People who want to be famous are afraid that others will not know them. If the designer does not publicize his own design results, no one can help you publicize them.
