Pernod Ricard Sells Majority Stake In Armagnac Brand

French liquor group Pernod Ricard has sold a majority stake in its Armagnac brand Société des Produits d’Armagnac for an undisclosed sum.

The majority stake was bought by Cloudsweeper, a company wholly owned by Alexander Stein, founder of premium gin brand Monkey 47. Pernod Ricard acquired the Monkey 47 brand in 2020.

The Armagnac brand Société des Produits d’Armagnac was founded in the 1930s and is headquartered in Eauze, France. Its portfolio of brands includes Marquis de Montesquiou and Comte de Lauvia. It has operations in markets including France, the UK, Russia and the US, and has an “exceptional” stock of vintage wines.

This transaction can also be seen as a cooperation between Pernod Ricard and Cloudsweeper, giving the two Armagnac brands a new development strategy in France and overseas. Pernod Ricard said the group would support Stein in leading the two brands to success. More recently, Pernod Ricard and Stein have also teamed up to launch a habanero-infused bourbon brand called Horse with No Name, which is counting on Stein to repeat the success of the Monkey 47 that year.

Booker’s Presents Noe Strangers Batch 2021-04 Limited Edition

Booker’s has launched the last whiskey of the 2021 Collection, Booker’s Batch 2021-04 ‘Noe Strangers Batch’. Like other Booker’s whiskeys, it was selected by the seventh-generation master distiller Fred Noe to continue the brand’s insistence on bourbon quality .

Noe Strangers Batch was bottled at 62.2% abv, undiluted and unfiltered, aged 6 years and 6 months. The wine has a beautiful color, vanilla and brown spice flavors on the aroma, and a sweetness on the first sip. The spiciness is not overwhelming and the flavors left behind are balanced with a long and warm finish, perfect for the colder months ahead.

This batch is a tribute to the sincerity of Booker Noe, sixth-generation master brewer, and his ability to turn a stranger into a good friend in an instant. Making friends is in Booker’s nature, and he taught his son, now Master Distiller Fred Noe, that the Noe family has always adhered to the principle of honesty. This bottle of wine also has the good expectation of becoming a good friend through whiskey.

Grangeauer Presents The 8th Edition Of TEAPOT DRAM

Glengoyne has launched their latest batch of Teapot Dram, Lot 008. Glengoe’s popular limited edition series, Teapot Dram tells the story of an ancient distillery tradition.

The distillery gives the workers some whiskey three times a day. While the other distilleries give workers new liquor fresh from the stills, only Glengoy gives young, first-fill sherry casks. Some junior workers will take the initiative to pour their own wine into a copper teapot in the canteen of the winery for their older colleagues to enjoy, and Teapot Dram comes from this.

In this tradition, the Teapot Dram collection has always been a deliberately bold, sherry-only limited edition. Batch 008 was fully aged in European and American oak sherry casks and bottled at 59% abv.

This limited-edition single malt is dark amber in color and has flavors of plenty of ginger, monkey 47apple and supple leather. The aroma leads to a warm palate of soft oak, dry sherry and velvety plums. On the long finish, oak and spice continue to sparkle with pepper and citrus.

Available in the Glengoyne Distillery Shop and Glengoyne.com, it is limited to 3,000 bottles and retails for £120.
